As writers we can't make up whatever story we simply feel like. Well, maybe we can, but we certainly can't hawk it off as truth. WCMTSU is focused on exploring the principles of faith, community and stewardship. Our editor and contributors are interested in seeing how we can live contemporary lives in an urban setting while blending in elements of frugality, earth-friendliness and all the while being both locally and globally minded.

This website, then, is an ironic look into the movements in our local communities where creative individuals are making stuff up as they go. Be it handicrafts, philosophy, the domestic arts, or music, we are brining you interviews, articles, stories, tall-tales, poetry, and fine arts that shows the creativity of the world around us.

Because we can make this stuff up, and we do. We are experiments in making stuff up, and letting our only limit be our imagination.

WCMTSU is a bi-monthly zine produced by volunteers. All writings/ideas are our own, or reproduced with the author/photographer's permission.

The Basic Idea

We Can't Make This Stuff Up is focused on ironic alternatives....

Editor

Selina Mullin

Selina is a resident of Ottawa ON. A writer and the editor of WCMTSU, she spends her time typing away when she isn't at her "daily bread" job or with her husband, Zack. Raised Mennonite, she is currently an Anglican parishioner (having also dabbled in both Baptist and Vineyard churches). Selina finds her solace in poetry and literature. She is a recent graduate from St. Stephen's University with a B.A. and a lover of Scrabble.

Writers

Katie Ironside

Katie is writing to us from St. Stephen NB. She has a B.A. from St. Stephen's University, as well as enthusiasm for china tea cups, homemade lovings, and all things woodsy. She is bringing us her folksy wisdom and reflections on both life and old fashioned living.

Raymond FunkIronside

Hailing from Three Hills, Alberta, this gentleman is our own personal Wendall Berry. Raymond is a farmer, wood carver, painter, musician and poet. (Not to mention a great essayist!) He concocts his well thought-out and beautiful reflections from besides a roaring wood fire with guitar in hand.

Zack Ingles Ironside

Zack is our resident music critic. An audio engineer meets song writer, meets musician, meets worship leader, meets roadie...he is a musical jack-of-all-trades. Currently working with St. Alban's Church in Ottawa ON, Zack is far from his native home of BC.

Jonathan Askwith

Jonathan is a graduate from Huron University College ON, with a degree in Theology. Currently working towards the Anglican priesthood, Jonathan is a great authority on quirky church-isms. When he's not debating theology with friends he is getting his nerd on or consuming mass quantities of Dr. Pepper!

Karis Taylor

Karis is writing for us all the way from California. After completing her Interdisciplinary with Honours at St. Stephen's University, NB, she is currently working at High Trails Outdoor Science School in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern CA. When school is out she can be found under a large tree writing poetry that will one day change the world.
